Bloody Discharge at 26 Weeks

Anonymous
Hi. I just went to the restroom and noticed that there was some bloody (brownish) discharge in my underwear. The amount of discharge looked normal, but it was colored. I've gone back to check and there does not seem to be any more (at least for now) that is colored. I'm worried because at this stage of the game it could be pre-term labor, and the spotting that can routinely happen in the 1st trimester should be long gone.

Has anyone else experienced this? I have an appointment at my Dr in about 4 hours, but I just wanted to calm my nerves down until then. I've felt the baby move around today and kick normally - btws.

Thanks.

No need to panic yet. I had spotting in the third trimester and had a healthy DC. It is a good sign that the discharge is brown (old blood) instead of bright red blood (new blood). Plus, the baby's activity remains normal. Plus the flow of the discharge is minimal and has not increased. Your doc may order an ultrasound. Hang in there- any blood during pregnancy is worrisome but there is no need to stress yourself until you hear from your doc.

OP Here. Thanks for the response. I went to the Dr. and my cervix was closed, the baby's heartbeat was good, and everything was fine. He said it just sometimes happens, but it was good that I went in to have it checked out.
