Female Firefighters are "Normal" nowadays...How long until Male Nannies will be considered "Normal?"
Male Nurses are "Normal" right? Female Soldiers ditto. Just waiting for the prophecies of "Free To Be You and Me" to come to pass, |
| I wouldn't say female firefighters are "normal." Only 2% of firefighters in the US are female. It's much less common than policewoman or similar jobs because not many women have the upper body strength to carry people from burning buildings and drag hoses. Plus it's pretty much a boys club. |
OP here, Okay but if you see a rare female firefighter do you think she is mentally ill? |

IDK
But if I saw a female mechanic I would think twice before letting her work on my car. |
Why? |
| I'm the 7:41 PP. I've worked a few jobs where I was the only female in a group of men. I'm confused as to why this is a problem. And, yes, I know how to do minor mechanic work. I work on my own car because I enjoy it and it saves me money. |
| At this point in time the % of men to women starting out in certain careers is at an equilibrium. Meaning, if a woman or man wanted to do X they've been afforded that opportunity. If they choose not too then there is a good reason (hours, culture, life balance, desire, money). Unless something changes in a field such as childcare pays much more to attract men or firefighting becomes a desk job then, no, I highly doubt we will see more of either gender in those roles. |
I agree women should stick to low paying desk jobs and men to manual labor like cowboys and firefighters. |
