Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)
So you don't want your kid to go to school that has much better average test scores, much better college placement and, even according to DCC posters here, much better resources and class offerings than any of the other two schools listed (Woodward is unknown so it doesn't count). And all that to have 5 minutes shorter bus ride. |
| They don’t want their kids to go to school with yr. kid don’t you get it?? |
Then why bother with all these options and rezoning. Let's simply split WJ into two schools and move on. |
There is much more too it. For college placement you are better off at a less competitive high school. Better test scores mean nothing. The important thing is where your child is happy and the teachers they get. Teachers can make or break the year. |
I don’t want my kids going to these ultra competitive schools without diversity as that’s not the real world. I don’t want them going to school where parents care more about the cost of their home than the kids. I don’t want my kids to go to school with kids whose parents stretched for their homes and don’t have similar financial or other values. It’s sad how some assume low income equals bad. Most of the parents are good hardworking people. |
The BOE doesn’t care about testimony and rarely even acknowledges it. Same with emails. They ignore them. |
They should leave the kids at local schools, give more money for farms and increase offerings at these schools so kids will stay at them, improving test scores and everything else. At least offer the classes virtually if they don’t have enough students. |
Rich families with connections. Protesting doesn’t matter. |
Why are you being insulting? For a few pages this thread was mercifully productive. Now back to insults. Maybe try listening. I think the Viers Mill parent’s post is expressing the value they place on being as close to their school as possible. |
They are trying to justify stretching and overpaying for their home. |
That’s fine. That’s what most of us expected. The dcc gets ignored. We are used to it. |

Which do you want? Some DCC kids at Woodward and WJ or no DCC kids at either? If DCC parents are opposed to having their kids at Woodward and WJ then MCPS would be listening not ignoring right? Is it that you want another high school built within DCC in addition to Woodward? I get wanting another school. |
Where do you want to go? Einstein and Wheaton? The 0.6 miles between Woodward and WJ are that outrageous to you? Personally we would rather you stay on that side of the tracks. |
Then you live in the wrong area where people have different values than you. Stay in your DCC bubble of what you perceive as success. |
