Or GOOD quarantine policies! I love the people who are so panicked about covid in schools who are also expressing alarm about quarantine when… quarantine is a sign that cases are identified and schools are taking action!

well yes, that’s another way to see it! I would prefer that they minimize quarantine by doing test-to-stay though.

Yeah those are good quarantine policies. Not this DCPS hot nonsense where nobody is a close contact.

Does anyone have details on the CHML cases? Per twitter it sounds like there are a lot of them (linked to non-anonymous tweets discussing actual cases) and maybe they aren't reporting positive tests among students quarantined as close contacts as positives. That would seem really problematic in terms of the reliability of the data DCPS is providing even if those kids aren't in the building anyway/don't result in additional quarantines.

Yeah, and you know why so many schools have grades and full classes quarantining? Because there ARE SO MANY UNVACCINATED TEACHERS. If an unvaccinated teacher gets Covid or is simply a close contact, it’s automatic quarantine for the entire class. Contrast that with vaccinated teachers, who even if they are a close contact, need only quarantine if they have symptoms.

If you look at @DCPSCovidCases you should be able to find the various discussions re: CHML (2 parents sent a letter to the Mayor based on their experiences w/ 3 CHML-attending kids who tested positive) and the DCPS reporting criteria (seemingly not if they haven't been in school for 48 hours, but that hasn't been confirmed).

If the teacher is vaxxed and is a symptomatic positive, the whole class still has to quarantine as close contacts, apparently. A whole class is out for a (vaxxed) teacher positive at LT right now.
