Things they discontinue that I like

Didn’t think I had one, but the paper towel person reminded me: regular-sized toilet paper rolls. It’s all MEGA GIANT rolls now. And we live in an old condo with the toilet paper roll built into the wall, so they baaaaarely fit. To get any paper from a full roll, you have to jam the roll around the circle, and the paper always breaks from the pressure and leaves you with a handful of individual squares. My blood pressure is rising just thinking about it!

First the normal sizes became harder and harder to find. We knew which stores to check and even then sometimes had to get lucky. Now, impossible.

Can you get a roll extender? I once got one with a pack of charmin, but I’m sure you can buy them too.

Marc Jacobs mascara (the one in the gold tube).

Chanel de volume mascara in brown.

Now there are no mascaras I like.

I had the most perfect shade of lipstick in high school, a limited edition Chanel called Cozy Mauve.

I lost it my first year of college when someone stole my makeup bag, and that shade was already discontinued when I went to buy a new one.

I spent years scouring EBay for an old tube of Chanel’s Cozy Mauve, but it never appeared. (There is, apparently, an Avon shade also called Cozy Mauve, but it isn’t close to that old Chanel shade).

It was the only lipstick I have ever had that I truly felt looked perfect in all lights.

I didn’t know this was discontinued. I buy my DD16 the Neutrogena grapefruit shampoo in the square, clear bottle at Walgreens.

May I add Bare Minerals brand Invisible Bronze Fair to Light? Bought one compact of this 5 years ago and clinging to the broken compact and crumbling mess. Doesn’t exist via my Amazon and deep dive internet searches. I am very fair skinned and lightly freckled and this color works for me - always get compliments when I had even the lightest dusting of this. Now I’m addicted and feel like I look tired and wan without a swoop of this seemingly perfect color. A little goes a long way - clearly.

Found one for you on Poshmark!

The lightest shade of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Bronzer might work for you--it is very suitable for fair skin tones. Also the Hourglass powders might have something in the color you are looking for.

This PP and thank you, internet stranger! Also appreciate the alternative suggestions!

Every Dior moisturizing foundation. I refuse to buy the latest one since they'll just discontinue it in 1-2 years.

Sushi and sashimi from Whole Foods, now made with garbage fish and inedible. Thanks, Bezos.

Yes, these were delicious and it's too bad they don't sell them anymore!

For me, I just found out the Dove Curls Defining Mousse has been discontinued. That's the only product that works on my curls!

I used a Dove mousse years ago for my curly hair, and then suddenly couldn't find it anymore- not sure if it was the one you reference. Anyway, I switched to the Tresemme mouse for curly hair and really like it. Most mousse products make my curls crunchy, but this one doesn't. You may want to give it a try!

Yes!! I remember they had a great one that almost resembled whipped cream and they discontinued it. Later, they came out with the one I mentioned above, which wasn't as great as the first, but was still the best for my curls out of other products I'd tried. I will check out the Tresemme mousse! Thank you for the suggestion!

Wegmans no longer sells two of my favorite products: Peruvian chicken marinade in a jar, and the cook-in-a-bag frozen fish. The frozen fish was the absolute best... it came pre-marinated in flavors like teriyaki and scampi, and all you had to do was put the bag on a sheet pan and roast for 30 mins.

Sad days

Huh. Sounds like it’s definitely worth a try. You may be our family’s hero, PP — thanks!

Don’t know whether it’s just one person or several googling up answers to some of these, but thanks for the inspiration. I looked up two long-lost favorites today, and turns out one is discontinued but still knocking around on Amazon and the other is gone in the brand name but still has off-brand versions (Amazon again). Small things, but I’m so excited!
