That's a CLEAN SWEEP then -- starting with the school psychologist at the beginning of the school year. EVERY SINGLE DIRECTOR that began the school year is gone. School Psychologist (August) Director of Operations (January) Principal (May) Admissions/Family Support (June) Dean of Students (June) SPED Coordinator (June) The replacements: Senior Director (the ED's personal friend; lawyer - no early learning experience) Director of Compliance (the ED's hatchet woman for dismissing employees; no college degree) Good luck! |

The Principal position is filled. The Dean of Students/Psychologist position will be filled (by a qualified friend of the ED). The Director of Compliance is essentially doing operations. But the Admissions and SPED positions aren't filled as far as I know. |

Wait, what? Dean and Psychologist are being combined? And what do you mean "will be filled (by a qualified friend)." Has the new hire already been selected (or "selected") but not yet announced? |

That's because more head teachers have resigned. There is only ONE head elementary teacher OF FIVE coming back that I know of. For primary, the numbers are something like 50% definitely leaving. Add in the admin, where basically everyone has left and you have the makings of a massive turnover. Th ED is to blame, of course. But guaranteed the board is still clueless about this. No board meetings until fall. But, hey, if you have a high school diploma and are ready to work by the year 2108, early in the 22nd century, you can get a head teacher job at Shining Stars https://amshq.org/Impak/Content/Job-Detail?jobid=21016 P.S. - just don't apply to careers@shiningsraspcs.org. | Actually, the founding director was pretty good. SSMA was really created to outfit the building on Georgia Ave belonging to the founding husband and wife team to no benefit of the school. She stood in the way of that. The board was full of their cronies and even turned the school over to a 22 yr old student...0shitty then and shitty now. No surprises here. The school is on track to be shuttered soon....very unfortunate. |

Now that the 2018-19 school year at Shining Stars is beginning, here's the latest on staffing departures at SSMA. Some of these departures happened mid-year but most of them have happened in the aftermath of the ex-Principal's departure:
Staff who started the 2017-2018 school year but are now gone: All of the directors: Director of SPED and student support Director of Education Director of Admissions and family support Director of Operations Dean of Students Specialists: SPED Coordinator English Language Learner Coordinator Speech Therapist Guides, Assistants and PAs: Montessori Guide Marshall Montessori Guide Maathai Montessori Guide Angelou Montessori Guide Mandela Montessori Guide Gandhi Montessori Guide Hughes Montessori Assistant Mandela Program Assistant Total: 16 Departures.
