Skidmores endowment is pretty solid. It is not in the range of the elite schools which are a focus on DCUM but it is solid. |

Wow. That was pathetic. Are you trying to be funny? Witty? Clever? Regardless, you are failing miserably. If you can't make an intelligent retort, just say something dumb. I weep for your children. |
Be careful. Holy Cross took a downswing for about 10-20 years (used to be more prestigious before then) and is making a comeback, especially in the last couple years. I would not go on naviance data more than 3-4 years old on this. To say the least, though, it’s not a safety — for anyone. Now, if there is an ED1 to BC or Colgate and an ED2 to Holy Cross, that probably makes sense…. |
+1,000 They have a new leadership team. Onward and Upward for Holy Cross. Dynamic President and new admissions director. |
Williamstown is a rough place to spend 4 years lol - but there are 2 pizzerias! |
And now an Indian restaurant, cool cafe/bakery, sandwich place and a Thai restaurant?? I was a student there 30+ years ago and loved Williamstown. College is one of those rare opportunities to live in a place like that. |
^Great school but sounds extremely boring. |
And decent skiing 15 minutes away and pretty good skiing an hour or so away. Williams FTW. And if you don't like skiing, that is your prerogative, but some people do. There is probably some aspect of your preferred school that I think is pointless or unimportant or whatever - that's why there are lots of schools and no need to insult it (not directed at you but at the inevitable response I will get). To each his own. |
Relax. Holy Cross is on the high end of a group with Villanova and Fordham. It doesn’t compare to Georgetown or ND or even BC. It’s a good school but why do we have to pretend |
I would definitely take Villanova over Holy Cross, but it isn't a huge margin. Probably Fordham as well but it is very close - going to school in NYC is great or horrible depending on the kid. I've worked with a lot of alums of the three and HC is definitely third, though I think Fordham has a lot of variability and I've been fortunate to work with some of the best - average kid from HC and Fordham is likely roughly even. |
I’m the one who said HC is a safety vs BC, but know my kid would prefer HC over Villanova for the mere fact that HC is outside Boston and Nova is outside Philly
|
Villanova is a lot closer to Philly than HC is to Boston. Villanova is a suburb of Philly - many people commute in from there. Few if any people are commuting from Worcester to Boston. |
Holy Cross is the most prestigious Catholic SLAC, and has no rivals on that front — none of the other schools you mention are SLACs. |
