Trump is the one doing the leaking.

Seems that AI is having trouble with critical thinking... why would Trump want to indict himself with the leaks?

He softening the blow by leaking out bits at a time. It allows him to control the narrative, and blame the investigators. He did this over and over again during the mueller investigation.

Trumpers seem ignorant about the obvious. Unless they hear Trump, they don’t know what to think.

No, it just means that Trump knows that prosecutors have the tape and knows it looks bad for him.

Also possible that he's warning witnesses that prosecutors have this tape so they can shape their stories accordingly.

For such highly sensitive investigations, leaks are par for the course, and probably it's not timed to anything, just some employee along the way who can't resist talking to CNN or WaPo, as the case may be.

I'm more inclined to think the leaks are coming from the Trump defense team. They have an army of crazed and armed Trump supporters eager to descend on somewhere to express their outrage that their hero is being framed. "Fake tape!" Their hero will cry, and they will come running! "Witch hunt!" he will shout, and they will sally forth filled with outrage! If this came out in a courtroom, it would be different, shocking, and likely lead to conviction. But he's tainting the jury pool (the entire US population) by releasing all this information. I seriously doubt he will be convicted. Jack Smith seems like an amazing prosecutor, but even he has limits. Trump is very wily and very smart about keeping his hands clean. And when caught red-handed, he says "Fake! Fake! Fake!"

Does any of this matter? If he wins, all of this disappears. He just has to stretch things out until election day. If he loses, then he becomes irrelevant regardless.

Do you think that one of the candidates under federal indictment for violation of the Espionage Act might sway a few swing voters?

Is there even such a thing as a swing voter anymore?

Nope. Biden isn't popular and Trump looks like he'll be the nominee. I think Biden probably wins, but it's far from a sure thing

Yeah I mean he only beat Trump soundly in 2020 and then had the strongest midterm election in history, but sure, people are going to be stampeding to the traitorous and fascist party that keeps curtailing rights.

Yes, there. Most people are in fact pretty politically disengaged.

The question is will it sway enough of them and enough of them in the right places to make it count in the Electoral College. I'm not convinced it will.

I mean, it kind of did in the midterms, though the Electoral College obviously didn’t come into play there. It also appears that enough Republicans died of covid that it may have changed the outcomes of several elections across the country and I don’t think long covid is going to stop slowly and quietly picking off people.

And I don’t think people enjoy dead women and fascism with a side of treachery and sedition.

This! Totally ruining the case against him one leak at a time. Taints the jury pool and gives is supporters time to dismiss/come up with a deflect of Trump’s illegality.
