Returning to Work 4 months post partum and 20 lbs overweight

Where do I buy work clothes or what kind do I buy? Maternity clothes are too big, anything that falls below my pooch cuts into my hips, anything that falls across it gives me muffin top and if I go above it I'm wearing pants under my boobs -- which are F's now. Help.

Spanx are your friends.

I am 3 months out and oh boy do I hear you. I found some side zip cropped pants at Ann Taylor that are surprisingly flattering (all things considered). The style name started with a c, that's all I remember. I am wearing them now with flat sandals and will pair with boots as it gets colder. I am wearing a lot of solid color sleeveless blouses (Ann Taylor loft had some that were loose, theyd have been unflattering in my pre preg days but now they hide the belly) and I usually pair those with a jcrew Jackie cardigan unbuttoned with the aforementioned pants.

Also you should get the spanx brand called assets that they sell at target and kohls. Not as constricting and uncomfortable and real spanx but they make a huge difference if you have to wear a dress or skirt. Good luck!

What's the standard office wear for your line of work?

It varies -- suits to office casual (dresses or skirts/suit pants/capris with cardigans). friday jeans are okay.

Very helpful -- do you think the capris are the curvy or the city? city is lower on hip and tighter fit.

Just spotted the Chelsea side zip capris. Am guessing yours are these.

I feel your pain. I'm 7 weeks pp and I have nearly 40 lbs to lose before I go back to work in eight weeks. At this point I'm not sure I'll be able to fit into regular sizes carried in stores (I'm still in maternity pants...ugh).

OP: what size are you shopping for?

Please post back and let us know what you find. Best of luck to you!

At 7 weeks don't worry! You have lots of time still. And even though my weight has sort of hit a plateau, my abdomen has continued to deflate. But as everyone says, my body just isn't shaped the same now. By measurement I am a 12 in pants and a 14 in tops (due to my bust). But b/c my shape is all weird, a 12 cuts me in two and I have the dreaded muffin top. I would hit the gym and diet hard but I"m breastfeeding. So, this is me for now. I'll post back when I find something -- IF I find something. Please keep the suggestions coming!

I bought regular pants in bigger sizes. Started at 14 now down to 10. Don't buy a lot since your size/shape is still fluctuating. I got Michael kors, Kenneth Cole and loft pants. Wider band on top helps. Tops/cardis too. Not too loose fitting though. Good luck shopping and heading back to work.

Try a couple of consignment or thrift stores, or even Goodwill. They have lots of really attractive things that aren't expensive.

Lots and lots of wrap dresses. Hopefully, as you get smaller you can just wrap them tighter until you are ready for your regular clothing.

I live in my wrap dresses.
