Major paradox

I know this reaction is not at all universal, but it seems to me this should be the least divisive of elections. We have an incumbent with a history (in my view, at least) of following Republican-leaning policy. On the domestic side, he dropped single payer from his medical plan and took a Nixon/Romney approach, continued Bush policy on TARP and adopted budget-balancing as a major goal, rather than following, say, a Krugman line. And internationally, he kept Gitmo going, escalated Afghanistan, and unilaterally sent Seals in to get Bin Laden; could he have been more of a hard-liner? And on the other side, we have a man who was comfortable being pro-gay and introducing Obamacare before it was known as Obamacare back in his MA days. This should be heaven for centrists, and a disappointing bore for committed liberals and conservatives.

How the f--k did it come to be viewed as the most divisive choice ever????
