Paul Ryan's favorite band is.... Rage Against the Machine?
Seriously. So who should be more worried, the liberals who think he has stolen their band or the conservatives who would be horrified to know their Veep listens to Commie music? I vote his high school english teachers, who surely realize they failed to teach him how to read. I'm also wondering what you think his favorite song is: A. Killing in the Name, a song about racism within the police and an attack on the military, which contains about a dozen instances of the word "fuck" B. Freedom, the song defending American Indian Activist Leonard Peltier, who was sentenced to life for shooting two FBI agents C. Wake Up, in which they accused the government of killing Dr. King and Malcolm X. D. Or maybe Know Your Enemy, in which he said whoever told you this is the land of the free is your enemy Or maybe he likes them because of their support of the Zapatistas, or their constant attack on wage slavery, or how they turned that phrase "Axis of Evil" into "Axis of Justice", or maybe Zach De la Rocha's statement in 1987 that every single president of the United States should be tried, hung and shot as a war criminal. I think Paul Ryan should probably be the most concerned. He managed to piss off Tom Morello:
http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/tom-morello-paul-ryan-is-the-embodiment-of-the-machine-our-music-rages-against-20120816 "Paul Ryan's love of Rage Against the Machine is amusing, because he is the embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades. Charles Manson loved the Beatles but didn't understand them. Governor Chris Christie loves Bruce Springsteen but doesn't understand him. And Paul Ryan is clueless about his favorite band, Rage Against the Machine." ... "My hope is that maybe Paul Ryan is a mole. Maybe Rage did plant some sensible ideas in this extreme fringe right wing nut job. Maybe if elected, he'll pardon Leonard Peltier. Maybe he'll throw U.S. military support behind the Zapatistas. Maybe he'll fill Guantanamo Bay with the corporate criminals that are funding his campaign – and then torture them with Rage music 24/7. That's one possibility. But I'm not betting on it." I'm a huge fan of Morello who is very active in politics. Ryan has given Morello the perfect opportunity to make his voice heard. |
I think they should be required to stick to their own supporters. That would be:
Kid Rock Ted Nugent Any Country Music except Johnny Cash or Willie Nelson, and Megadeth |
