Storybook Land in NJ and nearby

It seems like many of us are always looking for someplace to go with little kids that's relatively close. Here's a suggestion. We went up to Egg Harbor Township/West Atlantic City and stayed at the Homewood Suites in a 2 bedroom, the hotel was nice, free breakfast and dinner (dinner during the weekdays only). We took our dd7 to Storybook Land. She loved it. It only costs us $22 a person. It was shady and not too crowded, we went on a Monday, Tuesdays are $15 admission days, we could basically walk onto every ride or wait one cycle. It is an older park, I think it's been there for over 55 years. It is well maintained and generally friendly staff. The park is not too big -- not as big as Dutch Wonderland. I think it caters to 7 and under (depends on how brave your child is, if they are already riding standup roller coasters then it's probably not for the.) I wish we had known about it before this year, since I think my dd will be too old next year. The food is better than decent. I think there are about 15 actual rides but many attractions based on stories.

And then since we were close, we went down to Atlantic City, about 20 mins. away to go to Rainforest Cafe at the Trump Plaza and to see the light/water show in the AC boardwalk mall. We also did Wildwood one day and took the Cape May ferry back to DE. Wildwood was okay, we did the Morey's Pier rides and never went on the beach, there were alot of people around but it wasn't overly crowded. I personally wouldn't go there again, I'd rather just to Ocean City if I'm looking for a busy boardwalk.

So this is just a suggestion for a last minute summer getaway for this year or for next. We did it in 4 days. We needed a short vacation and we stumbled on this. Well worth it.

You are right, Storybook Land is great! I grew up in that area and I had a blast taking my daughter and nephew there when they were 7 and 5 and relive my childhood. Another great time to go is during the Christmas Season. The park is decorated so beautifully and the rides are open, although I have to admit, swinging around in 30 degree weather is not the most pleasant, but we usually just bundle up and drink lots of hot chocolate. As far as the beaches go, Atlantic City use to be where the adults hung out for the casinos and the teens/young adults would go to Wildwood or Ocean City (New Jersey). Both of these beaches are like OC, MD with the boardwalk and rides and lots of teens. AC does still have a small pier with rides too. Anyway, the point is...go to StoryBook Land during Christmas Season too. It is well worth it!
