My body rejected the Mirena, so I'm looking for another option. My doctor suggested NuvaRing, but I already have low supply and I'm concerned that NuvaRing will make that problem even worse.
Does anyone have experience with the NuvaRing while breastfeeding? Any other suggestions? I'm not a candidate for a mini pill for several reasons, not the least of which is that I could never remember to take it exactly on time every day, plus I'm concerned a pill would also decrease supply. |

When my OB/GYN asked me this question recently, I answered very honestly: abstinence.

+1. And condoms for the rare exception. |
|
DD1: nothing
DD2: Paragard. Still good supply at 8mos |
| Sleep deprivaton |
|
Paraguard. Had it put in at my post natal checkup and still nursing at 22 months. |
+2 |
| birth control plls - the mini pill |
| I used condoms after first and then mirena after second- no supply issues whatsoever and nursed past a year. |
+3. And, when we were intimate, we often just stopped at oral sex for both of us. |
I conceived my second DC 4 months after my first was born while on the mini pill. If you dont want anymore right now, i'd get another method of BC. |

DC is 15 months and still nursing and my period hasn't come back yet (it usually takes about 1.5 yrs to return in my family, going by mom and sisters). So, nothing at all except nursing hormones.
I would NOT do nuvaring. Seriously, that'll mess with your supply big time. Why not condoms if it's just a little while? Or if you're done having kids, snip-snip for DH? |
| Nuvaring sent my very good supply (as in I was donating extra milk because our second freezer was full) down in a hurry. It took 2 months on the pill and I was only producing half what the baby (10 month old) was drinking. |
