Chevy Chase Montessori

I'm thinking of sending my DD to CC Montessori for pre-school, and would appreciate any feedback. Also would appreciate any general feedback on Montessori education, and how kids handle the transition to regular elementary education.
Thanks!

My son is 2 years old and currently attends the Montessori School of Chevy Chase. I suggest that you search the archives - as I did - to read others comments.

he is doing quite well there and has blossomed over a few months. He enjoys his teacher and the staff. It is not the prettiest school that you may visit - but I chose it more for the "caring vibe".

They offer the opportunity to sit and visit classes. I suggest that you take a day and do just that. Good Luck on your search....it is such a big decision and hard to make. Good Luck!

We sent our older daughter there a few years ago and were quite happy with the school and teachers. After three years at MSCC (she started when she was two), our daughter attended our public elementary school (in MD) for Kindergarten and is now in 1st grade. Our daughter was very well-prepared for school and had a relatively easy transition to a "traditional" elementary school. Her only struggle sometimes in Kindergarten was that she seemed to miss some of the "orderliness" of Montessori and was sometimes distraught when her class (a rambunctious group that could get pretty wild) would get into trouble with the teacher. Her 1st grade teacher seems to keep the class more under control (and the kids are older...), so this no longer seems to be an issue.

OP here -- thanks to both of you for the feedback. It sounds like both of you like it for some of the same reasons I'm interested in it. We're going to the classroom observation tomorrow. Let's see how it goes; I'm interested in seeing the "Montessori" method in action.
