Does anyone know how I can go about finding a tutor for my DD? She will be going into 2nd grade and she has a weakness with auditory processing and as she is getting older I see it impacting her more and more as what she is learning is advancing as she ages. She has a hard time grasping some relatively simple ideas and I don't want her falling too far behind. I live in Rockville, MD. but can commute if the tutoring is done on weekends - I would prefer something closer though like Bethesda.
If her auditory processing problems are leading to reading/ language issues, give the Atlantic Seaboard Dyslexia Education Center a call (asdec.org). They are in Rockville and maintain lists of qualified tutors for dyslexia.
Thank you! Summer homework has been very difficult for us as I have noticed that she has a hard time understanding written directions. We already knew she had a hard time understanding verbal directions so this is new for us.
2nd grade is a great time to start. Good for you for being on top of this. many schools will not begin to identify for another year or two.

I just want her to get the help she needs. It doesn't help that her older brother (by one year) is doing exceptionally well at school. I keep stressing that everyone has their own strengths and she is much better than him at some things and he is better at others. Tonight was a bad night as she kept repeating "you just don't understand me! I don't know what I am supposed to do!" of course, I did understand and was trying to let her know I understood, but she was past the brink of frustration and I could not get through to her. I need help helping her!
