Today, I would love to drive east on nice roads, and end up in a place where i can buy fresh seafood.
Any suggestions. I would prefer not to drive further than about an hour east.... Bladensburg just isn't going to do it for me this time. TIA |
annapolis, or go to the waterfront in DC. fresh and cook at home or have them cook it for you. Its the oldest continous run wharf in US.
The waterfront down in SW DC (practically under the 14th street bridge) is my go to - it's not all local fish, but the fishmongers know where it's come from, etc. with a nice, wide selection (albeit biased towards regional items like crabs, oysters and rockfish) And there just aren't that many places where it's easy to buy a whole fish, if you're going to roast it. The seafood restaurant Blacksalt in Palisades has a small market with marvelously fresh fish, too, although mostly filets or smaller fish.

When you say nice roads, are you looking for ambiance? Because you won't get that on Route 50 (to Annapolis).
Maybe try something south of DC? Like Charles County? |
Maine Ave
Whole foods
Buy it at Waghaws, then go drive anywhere you want.
silly urbanite, you think seafood shops actually do their own fishing or have local sea-weathered fishermen bring fresh catches straight to their doors, don't you??
Just go to the SW waterfront. I've gotten some damn good fish there and at Eastern Market. Or drive down into southern Maryland (Calvert county, St. Mary's). They have great crabs.
Folks, I think OP's first goal is to go for a nice drive and buying the seafood is secondary. Sorry, OP, don't know where you should go. Hope you have a nice drive, though!
