How long does 6-week fussiness last?

Anonymous
I've read and heard a bit about a pretty standard fussy period that kicks in at six weeks and as if on cue our DD has been super cranky the past two days as she approaches 6 weeks. Prior to this she was a pretty easy baby and not too hard to soothe but the past two days have been frustrating for us.

Just wondering in your experience how long did this 6 week fussy period last? I realize for some colicky babies it can last for months but I am curious for non-colicky babies what to expect here... Thanks!

For us it was more like it peaked around eight weeks (I remember the day she turned eight weeks old very clearly!) then she slowly got less and less fussy - she was an easy bAby too and now 22 weeks and it's a lot easier! Hang in there!!

5.5 years and still going strong.

I have three kids, all have had fussy days and fussy periods of time, but none at 6 weeks. I think this is sort of self fulfilling, babies have fussy days, if you are expecting fussy days at 6 weeks you are going to read into the fussy days at 5 weeks or 8 weeks as being for that reason, not just kids have good and bad days.

We had a dramatic increase around 6 weeks.. Unfortunately db is now 13 weeks and it's still going strong

Started 6 weeks, ended 7 weeks on the dot.

I think the deal is fussiness is supposed to PEAK at 6 weeks. It usually begins around 3 weeks, PEAKS at 6 weeks, and gets better sometime between 8-12 weeks.

weeks 5-7 were pretty awful for us. by about 10 weeks things were much easier. now in the middle of a 4 month sleep regression and i miss my fussy but well-sleeping baby!

Looking back, the fussiness (up to about 5-6 weeks) was just gas from the wrong formula. Prior to that, so say, until 3 weeks, she was hungry and I wasn't feeding her enough (then I started logging every feeding, which solved that mystery - I still do at 10 months).

It ended at 10 weeks for us. Ped had said give it till 12 before exploring other causes, but it was over by then. Good luck, OP!

6-7 were the hardest. 8 weeks was better but 12-13 weeks was MUCH better.

For me it lasted 6 weeks. Six miserable weeks when my sweet baby girl would scream bloody murder from 6 pm to 9:30pm (witching hour) and would just be really fussy all day.

Peaked a few days after 6 weeks then went down.

Not a self-fulfilling prophesy- there is a biological reason for it.

Who can remember? I was going on pure fumes then.
