IVF-ers....how long were you on Estrace?

Hi all,
I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant, via fresh IVF cycle and am taking 2 estrace tablets a day. My doc wants me to reduce this to 1 and then in about 10 days stop it all together, assuming my labs come back ok. This makes me nervous, partly because I feel like this isn't the norm for fertility clinics. Wondering how long you stayed on it and if anyone knows of any risks of either having your estrogen drop, or having too much. I'm having a hard time finding much specific info about this. Thank you! |

| I think I reduced to one a day at eight weeks and stopped at ten. I was glad to stop the estrogen, more nervous about stopping progesterone inserts (which I was also supposed to stop at 10 weeks, but continued until 14 weeks, as I was told it wouldn't hurt). |

I'm not IVF but I am taking estrace under an RE for a spontanous pregnancy, along with progesterone. I have a history of chemicals and one miscarriage.
My plan is to get off the estrace as quickly as possible. They agreed we could test once a week and get off after my levels reached a certain number. At some point the amount that the pills gives you is very small compared to the amount your body is making. Why not ask for a blood draw if you are nervous? |

Sorry, I see you are going to do labs first.
My RE told me that the evidence behind using estrace was much weaker than that for progesterone. They wouldn't want to take you off if they were worried it would cause problems. |

I don't have the specific number, sadly. I've been talking with nurses during blood draws but I haven't had the conversation with the RE yet. I wonder if the target number moves depending on how far along you are. I'm more comfortable with progesterone than estrace, maybe because I haven't had a talk with an RE in person about estrace and I have had that talk about promethium. But extra estrogen is bad for the fetus much later in pregnancy and it just makes me nervous. |

I just hit 440 for estrogen at 4 weeks and 2 days. Based on that number they are letting me scale down to one pill a day now. But I'm a non-IVFer, don't know if that matters. |

I am 7 weeks pregnant via fresh IVF cycle too!
I am currently taking Estrace twice daily, and Endometrin twice daily. I was instructed to decrease Estrace to once daily from 8w0d, and stop Estrace on 10w0d. For me, they don't even do labs beforehand. |

| I was on Estrace until week 10, then I stopped. This was the RE's advice. |

| Hi this is OP. So now I am 8w1d and I finally dropped to one estrace at 7w6D. The past two nights I have felt like a migraine is coming on and am worried that maybe my estrogen levels are dropping. Last year when I miscarried I got headaches as well. I am scheduled for labs on Monday but am scared something will go wrong before then! |

| I hated estrace so much. It made me exhausted even before I got pregnant. My estrogen levels weren't that high so I stayed on it, along with the progestrone, until week 12. The worst. You do forget about it though. |
