Is it worthwhile to tour again this year if we did it last year?
BTW, we didn't apply last year but will be applying this year for K. |
Yes, because you may have the opportunity to visit with the admissions director. |
Would you recommend taking a look at the middle and high school as well? I'm not sure I can imagine how/where my child will be that far out, but just wondering if folks with elementary-age children have found it helpful in the decision-making to tour the upper school. |
Absolutely necessary to tour the upper schools. Your child will be in middle/upper before you know it, and you want to make sure you're comfortable with the school's philosophy at that level. |
You should absolutely visit again. A lot can change in a year (good and bad change) and you may add or delete schools from your list after your visit. |
No. Absolutely not. Do not tour again this year. Especially if it's Beauvoir or Maret. They won't notice. Really. A Cut-throat DCUM |
I'd certainly advise you to tour again, if only to see your child's (potential) new teachers for the following year. Also, it would be worth asking what has changed over the past year, and what new programs / changes are planned for the upcoming year. |
OP here. Thank you. Your response makes quite a bit of sense. |
Totally disagree with this statement. We toured both of these schools for Pre - K. We toured again for K and the admissions staff most certainly remembered who we were. You have to make yourself known to these folks. They see so many prospective parents but do something to be remembered. |
In addition, you now know more about your child and the learning enviornment where they will be successful. Doing the tours again may highlight some areas that you did not see last year. |
Hello?? Irony?! |
Indeed. And if you didn't get that, then I'm afraid that so much of what's thrown around this board will be lost on you. Peshaw. |
