Does anyone own one of these monitors? If so, do you recommend it or is there a better one out there?

we own one but honsetly have never used the motion function because baby ended up sleeping with us. we use it as a cound monitor and it works well for that

I used it with both my kids, at least for the first couple of months. It's great peace of mind, and works really well. The only problem is, we were always forgetting to shut it off when we took baby out, so we often needlessly set off the alarm. Also, once baby can move around a lot, you can't use the movement sensor because they are always moving off of the pad. But I do recommend it, especially if you're something of a worrywart like me.

Silly question but does this monitor also serve as a regular baby monitor for when the baby cries and you're in another room?

I've used one since my 4 month old DS was born. We love it. It keeps me from checking on him hundreds of times a night and we've never had a false alarm.
