I wanted to make a list of places to stop along I95 if you are traveling between Maine and Florida. I thought of posting this now since so many people just returned from their vacations, and can recall the good stops.
We went North, and we stopped at Hammonassett State Park in Connecticut, it was gorgeous. On the way back, we stopped at Old Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts, which is really off I90 and I84, but it is along the direct route to Maine. It is kind of like Williamsburg, a bit more interactive, and has an admission charge. My kids loved it. Would anyone else like to add? I would love to get info about even small playgrounds or restaurants or rest stops, that kids would enjoy. |

We love Princeton, NJ. Great shops and restaurants. Lots of grassy areas for kids to run around - or you can grab picnic food from one of the places in town.
It probably puts you a good half hour at least out of your way, but it's worth it. |

Mystic, CT. Good restaurants and maritime museum
Nyack, NY (if you're going over the Tappen Zee) - nice park by the river Wilmington, DE (restaurants by the river have areas to play; follow signs toward the outlets). |

Norwalk, CT, has an amazing children's museum and a great small aquarium, all about five minutes off I-95.
Stamford, CT, has a great shopping mall right off I-95 too. |
In Nynack was there a specific park? |
| Howells farm in NJ |

Savannah, GA is a great town - especially along the river and the houses near the river.
Stay away from South of the Border. It's a tourist trap on the NC/SC border. You'll see signs for it at least a hundred miles before you reach it - the signs are more interesting than the stop. It's a little more active during the summer - but this time of year will most likely be dead. Save your change for the tourist traps in FL. |

I agree South of the border is a drag. They must spend more on advertising it then anything going on inside the area. Screw Pedro and his dumb hat!
