| Is this the new normal? How long does this last? Am I doing something wrong? Is it better in winter? |
|
yes
years no no |
|
This.....I wanna rip my clothes off and dive in a pool of ice phase.....it goes away.
It's kind of like giving birth....every contraction is one less contraction.....at the end of the tunnel, you get a baby! Every hot flash is one less hot flash.....at the end of the tunnel, you get the best years of your life. Ride it out...it's worth it! |
| Stick your head in the freezer. It really does help. Winter is so much better because you can just open the door and walk outside to cool down. |
|
Winter is also better because, when hot flashes wake me up at night, it's a good time to go to the bathroom because you won't need a robe!
During the summer I drink ice water. Sorry, OP, I had thought that this would be brief thing in my life - and for some people it is apparently - but not for me! |
| I was sweating like crazy in the bank today. I mean, there were drips running down my face and onto my glasses. I thought, oh my god, the teller is going to think I'm nervous and going to rob the bank! |
| I think winter is worse, you layer up with sweaters and a heavy coat while driving somewhere, then you are drenched when you have a hot flash!! |
I know - I used to try to dress in layers like one would normally do in the winter but then I realized that I was spending too much time taking multiple layers off and putting them back on. Now I wear a short-sleeved shirt and have one heavy jacket that I can take off and on easily. |
| I wear a 3/4's shirt and a light jacket in the winter. People want to take up a collection for me. |
| Hot flashes drove me insane for about a year, but are almost gone, for some reason. I've cleaned up my diet, and I exercise every day. I stopped eating out, no dairy or wheat, no drinks except tea and water. I'm exhausted all the time because I wake up every night, but the hot flashes went away. The only changes I've made are diet and increasing exercise, so that has to be it. And I take Vit. D and magnesium every day. |
| MEN pray you don't get prostate cancer for all the normal reasons. Many MD's recommend for advanced cases in addition to either surgery or radiation therapy a course of hormone injections which totally suppress the production on testosterone send the patient into male menopause, complete with hot flashes. There were times I questioned the decision to have the injections the discomfort was so intense. 3 yrs ago so far so good |
| I just started with the hot flashes at age 51. Awful. I keep feeling like my period is coming, but it's not been seen yet. I have been regular since 12, until this time. Can't remember what I'm doing or focus too well. Feel kinda dizzy. Don't sleep well (never have, but now it's worse). What should I do? Any words of wisdom? As a side note, a friend told me that silk sheets help. Have any of you invested in real silk sheets? If so, did they help. |
