SAHM's work too you know, before they had children. You work now and pay someone to raise your children. Not sure what the extra things you're doing are.

I've never paid someone to raise my kids. My kids were in a small home daycare for less than 5 hours a day of which they slept for a good 2 hours of that.

I know it might be hard to follow, but the "extra thing" I am doing is called having a career. You can do both.....well, I can do both I guess you can't or "won't."

Not the PP, but of course we "can" do both. We choose not to and that just burns you up inside doesn't it?

She can use that on her resume when her kids go off to college and she wants to break back into the workplace....I was a SAHM who balanced a checkbook, grocery shopped, and was a total bad-ass (in a good way, of course). At least she has a game plan.

Which ones have failed?

I think "race" is old fashioned. There will still be majorities and minorities, but the line will be blurred. Latinos will quickly assimilate, as will Asians. They will intermarry and just be what we now call "white". Just like Italians, poles, Irish 120 years ago. Two generations and we will be fine.

It doesn't burn me at all. I think you're fooling yourself if you think most SAHMs "can" do both. The majority of the time that's the reason they are staying home. "To make it easier on DH and DC." That's the same thing as you could figure out how to balance work and home life.
