Doh! http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/olympic-viewing-nbc-says-no-offense-intended-for-timing-of-monkey-commercial/2012/08/03/f7a0a202-dde3-11e1-8ad1-909913931f71_story.html I believe NBC that no offense was intended. But, still, didn't someone in advertising look at the US team and realize maybe an ad featuring a monkey on the bars MIGHT NOT BE SUCH A GOOD IDEA? |
I thought exactly the same OP! weird...
I didn't even notice. People making drama.
I'm someone who generally thinks that many people are too quick to take offense at unintended slights. However, I noticed it and thought that they would, and should, get some flack for it. It's a stupid commercial in the first place.
It was previously scheduled for that time slot, and had already run 3 times. Clearly people are just looking for something to get upset about. Assinine.
Let's remove all the monkeys from the National Zoo too, there are a lot of black people in DC, they might think the Smithsonian is disparaging them.
Rings is a mens event anyway.
