Travel Discussion
We have a Bugaboo stroller (Bee) that we'd like to leave at the gate before we board the plane. Friends have told us not to travel with the bugaboo b/c the airlines ruin/crush them. Has anyone travelled with this stroller leaving it at the gate and getting it back before you deplane? I know we can buy a cheaper stroller for travelling but we're also taking the carseat (which attaches to the bugaboo) and are trying to minimize things we have to bring.

We went ahead and got the bugaboo travel box to be extra safe when still using the graco car seat/adapter and doing gate check.
Now that DD is bigger, we picked up a Maclaren Volo for flights. |
I traveled with my bug frog, which is difficult to fold if you do not know what you are doing, it was fine. Also traveled with my Bob, no problems there either. I would get a bag if you are worried. It may get a little dirty.
Invest in the bag - it is padded an easy to carry. This will keep it protected and clean - worked great for us when we were in the baby carrier stage. Once we passed the carrier stage, we invested in a Maclaren for travel which is incredibly easy (we got the Maclaren bag as well). I have seen and heard some horrible stories about strollers getting filthy and trashed, but we haven't had that problem at all (and we fly quite a bit).
My MacLaren has been damaged from traveling. On trips where we only need our stroller to get throught the airport, we use one of those cheapie "doll strollers" that fold down to nothing. It was about $18 at a supermarket in Florida and if it breaks - no big deal. It is actually super light and very maneuverable.
