Downcounty Consortium Listed as High School?

Anonymous
When I look up my home in the Montgomery County Schools locator, it says we are zoned for Downcounty Consortium. I had always heard we were in the Einstein district, but that a small number of students were able to go to a different public school because of the Downcounty Consortium. How many kids can use the Downcounty Consortium to get into a better school? Is it a safe bet? I'm really curious how it all works and we aren't sure whether to stay in this area of Silver Spring or not.

Every neighborhood has a base school, yours is Einstein, but there is a choice process to go to the other schools. Check capacity numbers at the one you want, perhaps that could tell you how likely it is to get into another one.

This is the school assignment locator. Put in your address to find your base school. You are guaranteed a spot at your base school - but are NOT guaranteed first choice if you don't choose your base school.

Exactly.

We too are in the Einstein cluster and we love the school. No complaints at all.

Problem with DCC is that the other options are not great either. (I'm in DCC.)

Not great based on what?

What experience do you have with DCC schools?
