I posted this under the Martial Law rumor thread.
No one finds this alarming? The ACLU is not happy: On December 31, 2011, President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), codifying indefinite military detention without charge or trial into law for the first time in American history. The NDAA’s dangerous detention provisions would authorize the president — and all future presidents — to order the military to pick up and indefinitely imprison people captured anywhere in the world, far from any battlefield. http://www.aclu.org/blog/tag/ndaa ******** Martial Law by Executive Order http://www.huffingtonpost.com/jim-garrison/martial...w-under-another_b_1370819.html President Obama's National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order of March 16 does to the country as a whole what the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act did to the Constitution in particular -- completely eviscerates any due process or judicial oversight for any action by the Government deemed in the interest of "national security." Like the NDAA, the new Executive Order puts the government completely above the law, which, in a democracy, is never supposed to happen. The United States is essentially now under martial law without the exigencies of a national emergency. [ Edited to comply with copyright law. ] |
If this executive order applies to the US homeland, may I offer two suggestions for martial law detention?:
Grover Norquist (the anti-tax purist who holds the GOP's masculinity in a lock box) Wayne LaPierre, president of the NRA |
I don't know about you, but I'd certainly want Wayne on my side if martial law is imposed. |
Why? B/c he will think of away to make himself rich by charging suckers $160 membership dues or is it b/c he is going to defeat the 4th Infantry Division with his stock pile fully automatic rifles? |
