are these okay in moderation?
TIA |
yes |
You can always go to a natural foods store and get some with fewer preservatives if you're worried about it. I don't like to cook them at home (the smell lingers), so I figure I can have it once a week when I grab breakfast out.
I wish I could find turkey sausage in the store that tastes as good as the turkey sausage at Cracker Barrel. You'd never know it's turkey. |
Yes. In fact, given my love of sausage and bacon, I'd venture a guess that each of my kids is approximately 10% breakfast meat. |
Since bacon has been one of the things that has consistently tasted good to me throughout pregnancy (including first tri), and I've probably eaten it at least 1x per week, uhh, I'm sure it's fine. I do try to buy the natural stuff w/o nitrates, and thicker cut bacon that has more meat/less fat in order to rationalize to myself that it's a valid protein source. ![]() |
I go with either the low sodium or turkey version... in moderation it's fine (so long as cooked well to avoid the listeria issue). Trader Joe's also has some decent chicken sausage versions (one is apple/maple flavored) with fewer preservatives. YUM! |
![]() "Bacon is the food that makes other food taste good." quote from Stargate Atlantis where 2 soldiers are discussing what they wish they'd brought from Earth, and one explains why bacon is his choice. |
Or, Bacon makes everything better! |
LOL. I am 13 weeks and haven't had any bacon yet, but all this talk of bacon has me seriously craving it. BLTs for dinner it is! |
