I'm just wondering if anyone out there had has success in getting pregnant after Laparoscopy? I have just had the procedure done and they found stage 2 endometriosis, with some around one of my ovaries. I am hopeful that this will help, but am concerned since at day 9 there were no follicles around the ovary that was affected. (I am currently taking follistem injections) In the past this ovary has produced follicles on Clomid, so I am concerned that something could now be wrong. If anyone has experience with this I'd love to hear about it.
Thanks! |
| i was diagnosed with stage 2 endometriosis several years ago following a laporoscopy. most of the endo that was found was on my left side. i did 2 ivf cycles and both times my left ovary did not produce any mature follicles (even though there were many resting follicles when they did an antral follicle count). after the first round, they said it could have been a fluke (although i had a feeling it was from the endo). after the same thing happened the second time, the doc said it must be from the surgery. i did manage to get pregnant, however, and now have a baby girl. best of luck to you!! |
| I was diagnosed with stage 4 endo and they removed lots of gunk from both ovaries. My doc recommended I give my ovaries a break for a couple of months after the surgery and then go straight to IVF. I think my left side does not produce as many follies as the right, but I've been able to get pregnant 3 times from IVF. Good Luck! |
| Hi..OP here. I'm encouraged that you both were able to get pregnant after your surgeries....hopefully I'll be able to as well. It does concern me about possible ovary malfunction, maybe now worse than before, although I think its too soon to tell. For the poster who had this trouble, do you know what caused it? |

OP-I think, in my case, I had so much endometriosis on the left side of my body (including ovaries) that either the surgery, or the endo itself, scarred my ovary to the point that it didn't function anymore.
BTW: my RE feels very strongly that women with endometriosis have as much of a chance of getting pregnant as women with no reproductive health issues (ex: tubal issues). I should also mention that we actually did IVF due to severe male factor. The endometriosis only came up as an IF-related issue when my left ovary didn't produce any mature follicles. Hang in there...a friend once told me that IF treatment is a marathon, not a sprint. |
