Long weekend at DE beaches - where to stay?

We are planning to go the last weekend in August for 4 days. Most places require a 1 week booking but we want Sat through Tues.

We like The big beach communities as it gives us options for the kids if the weather turns bad. It also has a pool in the complex - but not right outside the door which is nice as we have young children and I would not be able to relax.

Any recommendations?
