Fried hair

Between breastfeeding and keeping my white hair covered, my hair looks more like straw than anything else. Does anyone have any product recommendations for something that really helped transform their formerly brittle hair?

This stuff is the best:

I put in gobs of this stuff because I have very thick, dry hair that gets extremely course this time of year. I put it in, roll it up in a bun and leave it for a day. It does soak in with normal quantities, but I really need to grease it up about once a week. Don't get the spray-in stuff because you will look like an oil slick and yet it does nothing to improve texture.

stay away from the blow dryer and styling tools. They'll just make it worse.

I do like Moroccan Oil (http://moroccanoil.com/en_US/products/Moroccanoil%C2%AE-Treatment). A few drops on my hands, apply from the ears back and down. Expensive bottle, but it lasts a long time.

I use this conditioner pretty regularly: http://www.drugstore.com/neutrogena-triple-moisture-daily-deep-conditioner/qxp86554?catid=183400
I put it in, clip up my hair and continue my shower, which is probably 5 more minutes (shave my legs daily).

Don't overwash.

You might consider going shampoo-free, either by washing with conditioner, or doing the baking soda rinse followed by vinegar rinse. Lots of info out there if you google it. I haven't done it yet, but have been tempted.
