I've always wondered. This did not happen on Long Island, at least not where I grew up. I see it here often.
insult
It's a sign that a boy likes the girl who lives in that house. At least, that's how it was 30 years ago.
Could be either. It's a prank. We usually did it to friends on a milestone and our house was tp'd on my dad's 40th birthday by my parents' friends.
It's an insult... usually on Halloween to a crotchety old person's house.
Right now it's probably for swim team, kids going to meets, tpd by older kids for fun.
depends on whether the kid is being hazed or bullied.
Like.the house on foxhall this morning.g?

If the perps are junior high or preteen it is either an insult or a crush.
If they are high school, then it means your kid is one of the gang, or a crush. TPing for high school kids is a right of passage. If you are a high school teacher, then the kids think you are really cool and fun. If your adult friends did it, send them some beer. Welcome to neighborhood! |
I'm from the Detroit area and people do this on Devil's Night. It's an insult but better than having your house set on fire.
|
The sports teams where I live do it as a rite of passage for new varsity players, and the swim teams do it to cheer on kids.
This week and last it's for the swim teams and it's all in good fun.
Lot's of TP on Western Ave NW this weekend. Was wondering about it myself. When I was a kid, it was usually done to some poor, unpopular's kid's house. Glad that it doesn't seem to be the case here.
Agreed -- we got tp'd on Saturday because our swimmers made champs. It is a tradition for swim team. |
about 25 years ago we toilet papered Charlie Rose's house, we didn't like him.
