He's more Nixonian than the original. Too insecure to be president, destroying reports from Bain, todays NYTs uncovered 142 doc.s while Mitt was Gov. and SLC Olympic He's afraid of the GOP base, hiding taxes, etc, He's a wimp |
It's beginning to look like Mitt and the Republicans are stuck with one another like the divorcing couple that can't sell their nome |
Nome is in Palin's (old) bailiwick, isn't it? |
Note to paranoid wingnuts. When the liberal media actually does come after you, THIS is what it looks like:
![]() Boom! |
First Romney's drunken horse and now this! The blows just keep coming... Newsweek had to rush this cover to print just to be sure that they published it in time before the magazine shuts down completely in the next couple of months.
Maybe Bain Capitol can help Newsweek restructure and become profitable again. |
Msybe Romney's tax accountant is needed, but we'll never know |
as a dem, it doesnt surprise me how some on the right get all worked up about media bias when a cover story like this is produced. apparently they posed the same question about father bush back in the day as well
http://dailydamocles.files.wordpress.com/2010/11/newsweek-bush-wimp.jpg?w=233&h=300 havent read the article but suffice to say wimp isnt the word i would you use to describe romney. maybe soft or weak in certain aread but calling him an all out wimp is sort of a low blow coming from a so-called major publication. not sure how this will all impact the campaign but it will be interesting to see |
Newsweek is not a major publication. Newsweek was a major publication that is soon going to be out of business. That is why they had to rush and publish this now. This will probably have about as much impact as when Newsweek (and they still had readers...) called George Bush a wimp back in 1987. ![]() |
So then I'm sure the right is shrugging, right?
Besides, it's not the cover itself, it's the coverage of the cover. New national meme: Romney is a wimp. BOOM. |
I hate to point out the obvious, but he was a one term President. And the reason is because he got elected on "No New Taxes" and then... er... wimped out. |
That's not new. He is a wimp.
This is the guy who was exhorting young Americans to "take more risks" a few weeks ago. Guess what? When he was at Bain Consulting and was handpicked to start Bain Capital, he initially refused, because he was too afraid of leaving his cushy consulting gig. He only relented after he got ironclad assurances that this was a totally risk-free move--he could come back to his previous job without any loss in compensation or status if his new gig went haywire. And this is the guy who went to college and a dual JD/MBA on a trust fund and tells young kids laden with college debt to "take more risks." More risk, my **s. Wimp. The only being in that family that takes risks is the horse. |
I thought Romney was a bully? http://www.newyorker.com/online/blogs/closeread/2012/05/mitt-romney-bully.html |
Well, here is a News Week cover that I never thought that I would see. I need to cancel my subscription. Oops, I forgot that I don't have one. ![]() |
What's interesting is the WaPo extensive piece this morning about Romney's leadership in the Mormon Church. He actually seemed like a thoughtful, competent leader - which is such a contrast to his inability to present himself comfortably to the voters and to what looks like ham-handed management of his campaign. Interesting that the campaign seems to have been avoiding presenting him as a leader in the Mormon church and yet this WaPo article about his leadership actually makes him look good.
I say all this as someone who would never vote for Romney for political reasons but also, for all his financial success, he doesn't seem all that competent to me - maybe it's the excessive flip flopping that gives me that impression. This piece was the first time I felt like he might actually know how to lead. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/mitt-romney-as-a-leader-in-mormon-church-became-a-master-of-many-keys/2012/08/19/7c8fe1bc-cf89-11e1-8e56-dffbfbe1bd20_story.html?hpid=z2 |
It's not easy leading a group which does not share your core values. I think that is his problem. He was never really a conservative, but it's his only avenue to the White House. |
