Light up shoes?

| My DD is entering Kindergarten.. She really would like some light up stride rite shoes and my spouse says we should get them. However, I'm not sure if they are appropriate or allowed by MCPS? Any thoughts/comments? |

| Lots of kids wear them. I have never heard of a rule against them at MCPS. |

| I know Healy's are not allowed but I have never heard that light up shoes are not. Go ahead and get them. Honestly, the distraction wears off quickly. |

| My wife teaches elementary school in MCPS and she said that they are allowed, "much to my dismay." She said that the are a distraction to the young students. The distraction doesn't wear off. |

I teach kindergarten and lots of kids wear them, and I have not seen them as being too distracting--no more than any other time a kid wears new shoes to school.
