Where should dh, toddler dd and I go out? Kid friendly, dc proper suggestions only. Thanks. PS we already go to 2 Amy's on the reg.

Ted's Bulletin on Capitol Hill. Since it's your birthday, you have no excuse not to get a milkshake.

Cactus Cantina!

You should call a nanny agency and get a sitter! Where do you live?

Point taken! I could almost certainly find one but our nanny and our alternate are both unavailable and on short notice I am not interested in finding someone new. "Can't" was an overstatement but I think we three could still have a fun celebration and appreciate the suggestions so far. Live in NW.

Comet Ping Pong. Their softshell crab pizza is amazing.

Loud and terrible food. Why not try Chef Geoff's? Or Mia's for something similar ( better in my opinion) to 2Amys.

Do not go to Cactus Cantina for your birthday. Please.

I second Ted's Bulletin. It's very family friendly. Just a couple of blocks from the Eastern Market metro. It'll be an adventure from NW.

They allow kids at the bar?

You want to hire me? I am a babysitter.

Otherwise I second Chef Geoff.

I second Dino. They have a "kids eat their age" menu right now and you get to pick an app, entree, and dessert from the kids menu. So for $3 we got a bowl of fried calimari, a gourmet kiddie size burger, and a bowl of ice cream. Of course DD wouldn't touch any of it, but it was all very very good.

My other recent discovery is Firefly in Dupont. When we got there they gave DD an unbaked cookie for her to decorate with sprinkles and they baked it brought it out for her after she had her dinner. Kids menu is a bit on the pricey side, but it is more of an upscale restaurant. Only complaint was they brought her burger early so she was finished eating right when our food came and then she wanted to be entertained so we had to pull out the ipad which we hate to do (and once she saw the burger, we couldn't tell them to send it back).

Surfside can be fun. Definitely not fancy but the food is pretty good and the margaritas are fun. Sit on the rooftop! It's a pretty quick meal, however.

If your toddler is very well behaved, you could go to Blacksalt. They actually have a kids menu. I took my 7 year old there for a very early meal once, and it was great. We sat in the "market" area. Absolutely love that place.
