I read somewhere that Netanyahu worked at Bain. If so, this would seem to be potentially problematic. We need a President who has some independence. |
Here's the story: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/08/us/politics/mitt-romney-and-benjamin-netanyahu-are-old-friends.html?_r=1&pagewanted=all. It was even before Bain, and the friendship has apparently continued for over 35 years. It will clearly complicate his relations with Arab countries, and may be a factor in any voter's decision, but I don't think the fact that a candidate has such a relationship is disqualifying. |
I don't think it's disqualifying, but business people are heavily swayed by existing business relationships. They are heavily inclined to believe the statements of people they have worked with before. The problem here is that the interests of the United States are separate from this relationship.
If Romney needs to get tough with Israel for any reason, he essentially has to betray a lifelong relationship in order to do it. Netanyahu is a tough guy and he's going to put Israel first. Romney, I don't know whether he will be adequately skeptical of his old friend. |
Throw in Shelson Aldelson, who is part owner of an Israeli newspaper banning Netanhyhu, and publishing Romney's interview, yes the same Aldeson who gave Newt 15 mil and now has said he will kick in 100 mil to Romney's PAC the question is a joke

Arabs bad, israel good , what's the problem |
Most of our enemies are related to our support of Israel. What's the solution? |
Arabs have oil silly, Israeli Shenanigans drive prices thru the ceiling. Arab love high prices GOP doesn't believe in renewable fuel. Hence we're stuck supporting a state with a politically dominant lunatic religious fringe as bad as the Mullah'sin Iran.
If they'd stop building on the West Bank and get 2 states - peace, they'd have to deal with an economy that requires USA funds to thrive.. Anerican Jews like Aldeson won't let that happen there is more money in war for both sides |
Haven't read the piece but I have to say that US presidents in thrall to Israel is pretty much the norm here. Even though something like 17% of Americans think Obama's a Muslim, he's still not done much to hold Israel accountable for its behavior. Last president to do that was George HW, believe it or not. Used to be that Republicans were tougher on Israel than the Democrats but that changed when the evangelicals' increased their influence on the Republican Party. |
As what? Was he a summer intern or was he the Director of Neocolonial Exploitation in Central Asia? I bet that he had a corner office with windows. The knowledge that I am gaining about Romney in this forum is staggering. |
Netanyahu and Romney reporedly Vanity Fair, worked closely at Boston Consulting fist jobs after Harvard Biz Scool. Romney denied it. Bi bi recalled their close friendship clearly |
