They were offering hotel rooms plus free food plus free medication delivery. I don't know if they still are |
A friend of mine had COVID and had to quarantine bc the roommate was high risk. A mutual friend said the city paid for it, and someone brought meals and checked in several times daily. |
“...We are adding complementary tools, such as home visits, to build on that success and to help complete interviews with cases and contacts and connect them to the services they need to safely isolate or quarantine,” said a D.C. Health Department Spokesperson when asked why the city is launching home visits now, some six months into the pandemic. Sounds like it’s really just for people who don’t respond to the phone call. https://www.fox5dc.com/news/dcs-battle-to-wrangle-covid-19-community-spread-will-soon-include-home-visits |
Yes, the home visits are only to follow up with people who aren't available by phone. The only reason that you would be contacted by the contact tracers is if someone has told them they had contact with you during their likely infectious window. The contact tracers will try to call you, discuss your situation and help you get tested and/or quarantine if applicable. A case manager can help put you in contact with health care or connect you with health care, child care or food assistance if needed.
The idea that some kind of Force is going to randomly show up at your house sounds like dystopian right wing propaganda. - someone who had to learn contact tracing as part of my regular job |
Sounds good to me. |
You did lose some credibility by ignoring that we have had riots and that there are ongoing violent protests (even if small) in certain cities.... not to mention the bloody gunfires in Chicago and other places. |
Yay for government!! Very helpful! Many states are now doing this. DD’s university did something similar in the Spring - daily checks in person, bringing food, alternate quarantine residences if necessary, etc. |
Sure oh the riots! Why you can not even drive around DC or Portland because...you know the riots! What are we going to do...oh my...pearl clutching. I am so scared Fox News will have to talk about the pandemic and how we need more testing...oh it will just go away if you drink bleach and take hydroxychloroquine. Yes I see your point about credibility. There are no riots but there is a pandemic. |
The tracers are bound by HIPAA regulations |
DC health is putting together the teams this week for home visits |
Never. |
I would think it's better to do as much contact tracing via phone as possible? In other words, only show up at someone's house if you can reach them by phone. |
Whats the point of that when people who are probably going to test positive are traveling, eating out and socializing ad we aren't going to government quarantine. No, I wouldn't let them in my house. I am not letting anyone in my house right now nor socializing nor would I talk to anyone about my health I didn't know. |
That doesn't sound safe. The tracers can be carriers if they are going home to home. |
Exactly. It's not like they're census takers where they're going into a random selection of homes. They're meeting up with people who either have or are likely to have Corona. It is an incredibly stupid idea. |
