How often to replace non-slip mat in tub

Anonymous
When we used a mat for our kids, we pulled it up every night so it wouldn’t mildew.

You haven't cleaned or looked under there in years? Nasty

Just clean it with bleach.

Good tip on the washing machine, too. I suppose from now on I'll pull it up each time, too. I normally would remove it to wash underneath, but we recently started getting house cleaning done 2x a month so I haven't been the one cleaning the tub.

Your house cleaner should have been removing it when she cleaned the tub. Ours did and showed us it had gotten gross in the couple of weeks since we’d had it. After that we started hanging it to dry after every use.

I have the ikea one with an ikea hook and hang it after each bath. No mildew yet

Yikes. Seriously, OP? Just flip it over, spray the whole thing with bleach spray, let it sit for a while. Then scrub down both sides and rinse. Good as new. Ten minute investment of time.

Jesus commanded people to take care of children. Not to neglect them.

Also, littlest kid is 2.5, so do I even need one of these things anymore?

I take it up every time it is used and it never gets gross and they last for year's. This is cleanliness 101.

I have 4 year old twins. I also take i up every time it is used. I turn it over so that the suction cups are facing up and drape it over the edge of the bathtub. I put it back down just before I turn on the water. Actually we make a game of it. I put it down, we all get in the tub (it's a big soaker tub in our master bath) and we walk around the edge singing ring around the rosie. After we go around twice (they fuss if we only go once) we all get out and I run the water.

We put down the mat when they were 1 and it is still pretty clean. I spray with bathroom cleaner and wipe it down about once every 6 months or so. It still looks like it did when we first used it after 3 years.

I am having trouble picturing this soaker tub so big that an adult woman is walking circles in it.

I'm also having trouble picturing an adult woman dumb enough to teach her children lessons about walking around in bathtubs.
