Charter students participating in DCPS high school sports

I have a home schooled kid in DC, what are the rules laws regarding him playing sports for a public school.

Charter school students are not allowed to play sports at DCPS schools. There is bad info on this thread.

Mary Cheh introduced emergency legislation last fall to allow Lab School kids to play football at Wilson.

Wilson doesn't get any per pupil money for these students to pay for the coaching they get. I guess the operative consideration here is the fact that some Lab School students are there because DCPS can't comply with their IEPs.

DCPS wont' pay for lab school anymore.

This thread started in 2015 and is mostly from 2015-2017.

My kid went to Macarthur and played football for Eastern HS last year. It was such a great experience, he transferred to Eastern HS.

So quick to jump in with assumptions and outright lies. My charter school has students from other schools on its teams and has even allowed homeschool kids to participate in graduation ceremonies.

DCPS wont' pay for lab school anymore.

Lab School is still on OSSE's list of nonpublics that they will pay for. But it is very, very difficult to show that a student with learning disabilities should be in a nonpublic school at all, that they shouldn't be with non-disabled peers. DCPS wants students with severe LDs to be in the DCPS self contained classroom, even though it sucks.
