Lol it makes no sense to temporarily close Taylor, spend tons of $ for a reno then reopen when Nottingham is in great shape, was already renovated this century. |
Not a Nottingham parent, but we did sports a couple of years ago with a team that was all Nottingham kids. The group was very friendly and insular, to the point of exclusion of the two kids that were not from that school, so you do have some friendly folks. Once they knew we didn't go to Nottingham and we'd been randomly put on the team, they were nice enough to the kids, but totally excluded the parents. Even the nanny who came to the practices and games was the only person who would speak with us, and even she was shocked that we lived south of 50 and had to deal with these parents. In another encounter, I had a Nottingham parent actually gasp and clutch her pearls and accuse me of child neglect by living south of 50... So, that's all to say that some of them are snooty. We get all kinds here in Arlington. Plus, you'll be in the in-crowd there. I hope you find the nice ones. |
Oh Eileen, I'm glad you showed your spots. If you are indeed an expert in child development, doctor, you should have been able to solve this problem quickly. For example, let them sit in your office with you all day. take care b. |
As a Nottingham parent, I totally agree that there are some not-so-nice parents. Some of them reminded me of Mean Girls. I was able to find the nice ones though. |
This seems to be have been written by a Jamestown parent. |
Nope. Fleet. |
| Nottingham is a wonderful school. Very comparable to Tuckahoe and Discovery. I think you will find snooty, quirky parents at any N. Arl school but I find most parents here to be pretty down to Earth. The principal is great, IMO. She is not warm and fuzzy but she knows every kid in that building. She backs up her teachers (which she should) and I think that can cause some friction at times. The school has lots of cute traditions that the kids really get into. |
Most kids are. And for the love of God, just say "normal" instead of using clinical language outside of a clinical setting. Please and thank you. |
This is cruel and extremely dramatic. |
No, b. I think OP has her eyes open now. Not nice these defenders of the bad one. |
| What does Jesus say about those less fortunate than us? Be mean to them? I didn't get that in Bible study. |
I hope it wasn’t our team, but none of us had any nannies or au pairs as they’re not all that common. Also, for anywhere North Arlington, I wouldn’t assume snootiness when socially awkward would be equally likely. Plenty of lovely neighborhoods south of 50, it just stinks when you get assigned to a team that has you crossing it multiple times per week and at rush hour. |
| A nice neighborhood school. It was packed with kids for a period when mine were there and now they are having the great correction of it being light. Nice neighborhood school. |
| If we are not zoned for Nottingham, and it’s under enrolled, does that mean it would be easy to transfer there? Even in August for example? |
Yes. |
