It's official: the internet is over!

This site has always tended to be mean, but lately the mean responses on many threads far outweigh the helpful ones. There is still some useful information but mostly it devolves into name calling and stupidity. Not sure if that is bots or trolls or actual people.

Same with social media - and I do find myself using it less because who needs to scroll through a bunch of sketchy ads and AI generated posts. Hope their short term profit is worth the long term destruction.

It could be either. I mean you step outside in the dc/va area and people are rude and mean but can also be bots or ai. Its very noticeable now also noticing a lot less people are using the site now.

Well said. Its not worth the effort of making you way through pop ups and flashing ads. Its just like the movie Idiocracy now. Online and off. Busses with loud ads, gas pumps just lame and cringy af. Like all this is for dumb people to be manipulated.

This site used to have more intelligent people posting. More people are being called stupid because there are more stupid people.

It's been infested with MAGAs.

The height of the internet was the 00s after cable modems were common. You could get excellent information from forums and it was easy to filter out the whackos and idiots based on the cringe graphics they would use on their page or avatar.
