What you shared is perfect. The room parent should get it. The parents too. |

Room parent here in Howard County. Parents clamor to donate and gift our teachers. Those who can and want to do. |
That should be individual between the parents and the teacher. You should not solicit money for public employees. |
There is no teacher I know who doesn’t have email addresses for their whole class and couldn’t send out such a message. The fact that so few do is because they like the extra money and the ability to “blame” the class parent and not look like they’re requiring a bribe. |
Average FARMS rate in Howard county is 22.5%. You have no idea whether someone you’re soliciting money from is going without a meal to avoid you knowing their business. |
Agree. It’s not professional. Professionals don’t want your gift cards and kitschy gifts. |
| Omg no. Please don’t solicit funds because a teacher is on medical leave. This is such a lack of boundaries. I would be mortified if my students sent gifts when I was out on medical leave. |
Did I say I solicit anything? Parents are always asking to though Ma’am |
Parents inquire. Relax. |
Just because someone asks you a question doesn’t mean you’re somehow prevented from doing the right thing. “Its so sweet of you to think of Ms. Rose. We’re not going to collect money but I’m encouraging all the parents to have the kids make cards, I’ll get them in the mail on Friday” And if a parent wants to include a door dash gift card in that card then it’s nothing to do with you. |
| Our teacher is out for treatment for a serious illness. I don’t know if the teacher will return. I gave $100. |
| I love the PP that said don't they may not come back. |
