He does not do spontaneous anything. And he's a great dad. But he joined as an officer after an LAC undergrad. Many of his military friends that we spend time with have the same profile. These aren't grunts, they have a strong sense of purpose and patriotism and know history and philosophy etc etc.

You have a problem with grunts?

I’m asking because I had all these notions about how crude and uneducated military men were. But he seems nothing like that, and it seems too good to be true!

You realize that no one group is a monolith, right? "Military" men aren't all the same. Marines aren't all the same. Even captains aren't all the same. Surely, at age 40, you've figured that out before?

Anyway, we are very close friends with a lot Captains and Admirals in the Marines and the Navy and some of them are the most upstanding men I've ever met in my life and some of them are complete messes. These are all Naval Academy or West Point graduates, all either still in or retired after 25+ years.

You do sound too immature for someone like him.

He has been out in the world, seen and done things. There is depth to him but also a twinkle of mischief in his eyes.

Currently he works in academia.

I’m smitten. I think I want his babies.

Any downsides to this that I should consider?

I think you need mental health treatment, given all your posts of fake things.

No. Former Marine or Marine veteran. He's not a Retired Marine if his last rank held was Captain (O-3). Unless he really got busted down at the end of his career.

He could have been prior enlisted.

This is fake. He would have had to just have retired and the story keeps changing. The earliest you can retire is 38, entering as enlisted at 18. Officers are 22/23, which puts them at 42/43 for retirement except if medically retired. No way they could be a captain.

Seriously! Every day there is some new eek thread. Porn-addict? Horny teen? Frustrated 40 yr old virgin? InCel who is binging on soft-core romance novels?

What are you talking about? I have three friends who are captains in the Navy (one is about to be an admiral), and they are 45, 46, and 48.

Navy and Coast Guard Captain is an O-6, with 20+ years of service. Marine, Army and Air Force Captain is an O-3 with 4+ years of service.

Exactly, she's saying he's ex-Marines and retired. You are talking about those not retired and still serving.

Captains in the Navy are O-6s and old and towards the end of their career. Captains in the Marine Corps are O-3s. I would not be impressed by a retired O-3 tbh. Something isn’t adding up about this guy.

In theory, someone could be prior enlisted and be at 20 years as a captain. Someone could also be med boarded and be medically retired early too.
