Consistently not showing up to work is one of the few things in federal government that is very easy to fire someone for. Assuming they're indicating that they are working and not teleworking on their timesheet on days they're not at their on-site duty station that's timecard fraud and is very easy to fire for.

And yes, theoretically it would be easier to fire people for incompetence without the previous protections, but your problem is that you're assuming that the current administration will be using the policy change to improve the function of federal agencies when there is absolutely no evidence whatsoever that they will do that, and mountains of evidence that they will use the policy change to fire workers not slavishly loyal to Trump and the GOP. In essence, returning to the Spoils System that was the most corrupt and inefficient the federal government has ever been.

No, it mean it will be easier to remove people from the Federal workforce for refusing to commit unethical, illegal, and/or treasonous acts in order to “advance President Trump’s agenda.”

Passport renewals can be done in a day or two using AI. No one picks at SS office now so I see no change there.

Good, we cannot have accountability until federal employees feel the pain.

Any federal employee who does not support the Trump agenda and work diligently to protect working class Americans must be fired, and must be forced to experience the reality most normal people live through everyday. This is a small step towards that accountability.

If you think there's a single federal employee who doesn't "feel the pain", you don't know many federal employees.

The Trump administration finalized a new policy on Thursday that would strip job protections from up to 50,000 federal workers, a move that would make it easier for President Trump to remove or discipline them, in his latest effort to dismantle the federal work force.

As a former fed, I can't even bring myself to comment on this I'm so upset to see they've finally done it.

With these types of rules in place, no one will want to work for the government, which is sort of their goal.

Hundreds of thousands of federal employees have been laid off and it is impacting the daily lives of us taxpayers as well as significantly diminishing the US standing abroad, but MAGAs will never understand these things. There is plenty of pain, now and ongoing.

Your ignorance is unfortunately too commonplace. A fed's duty is to faithfully execute their duties in accordance with their oath to the Constitution, not to support the Trump agenda, which is often unconstitutional.
