Do you put it on the ends only?

I recently saw some instagram hairdresser who preaches no conditioner, no brushing or combing when wet- blow dry with usual styling products instead. I’ve been doing this this week and it’s working out fine but I don’t know what difference it makes re breakage and damage

I am intrigued but… how does this work? Does the hair dry with tangles?

I have babyfine thin hair. My stylist recommended conditioning my hair and scalp, and told me not to rinse it out and blot with a towel. I was dubious it would look greasy but it’s made a huge difference in the health of my hair, especially in the winter.

This.

Shampoo is for your scalp, conditioner is for your hair.

He swore the tangles would come out while blow drying. Weirdly, it does actually work for me. I use heat protectant and then just blow dry starting with my roots and somehow the tangles do mostly come out. Once dry, I do then brush my hair.

Only time will tell if this reduces damage over time but I figured I might as well try it for a while.

I have mid back length fine pretty thin hair that I both get highlights in and style with heat a few times a week.

Every day, on ends/not on roots, and rinse out immediately. I use it primarily as a detangler.

I can't envision this at all...

Same but no stylist and I don’t do my scalp because it is not at all dry… my ends need to be totally coated in conditioner or I can’t comb my hair. If you do this, careful not to use protein, keratin or k-18 type conditioner all the time because it will damage hair. You can still use those but not any more than once a week. I use Wella’s argan oil mask and love it but I’m sure there are cheaper ones that work well too.

What is this hairdresser’s account.

I've been following the Abby Young method for a while which has you put an oil mist on the hair before washing, conditioner in the shower, and then a leave in. My fine, thin hair has never looked better.

Me neither. I almost think this is a trick.

Does anyone wear a silk bonnet for sleeping? It feels like it’s really helping my dry damaged ends but it makes my roots so flat

Nope. My hair is super fine and porous. It absorbs the conditioner and any extra gets absorbed by the towel. It’s the same concept as leave in conditioner that slightly coats my flyaway hair. Without conditioner or product my wispy hair has the consistency of dandelion fluff. I do condition my scalp and rinse just the crown. I used to wash every day and now I can wash on day one leaving in conditioner, dry shampoo on day two, and scrub scalp and use conditioner only on day three. It’s made a huge difference in my hair and scalp.
