| How is it possible to not know when your kid is joking about something like this? |
Depends on the school. My kids' classes are 100 people total so if they were followed by 47,that would be half of the people in his class. |
| Laughing at these middle aged moms on their mommy forum flexing about how many followers their kids have |
If hes joking mom can get in on it too and suggest he post things for his fandom |
| If he is serious, you can point out to him that my boring and unpopular middle-aged husband has a few thousand followers on insta for landscape photography. |

Sounds to me like he’s being funny, and he can tell it’s annoying you so he feels it’s his duty as a teenager to keep bothering you with it.
Side note - my 15 yo has over 1,000 followers on instagram and she says it’s “lowkey embarsssing - bop status” and says she “has analytics” which is apparently too try hard. These kids aren’t that into public social media, that’s for millennials lol |
| Op, on a serious note, If he is delusional about the extent of his following, that can be delusions of grandeur. It may also be a part of bipolar, schizophrenia or personality disorders. It can be treated.. I would take him to a psychiatrist. My brother has schizophrenia. Looking back, this was always a sign that we shrugged off as hubris or ambition. |
| This is sort of sad, sort of hilarious |
| There's a 90 percent chance this is just a really funny kid. But if he's being sincere, well, that's a bit of a problem. |
