does harvard care about grandparent legacy?

For those less than fully qualified, there is the Harvard Z-List. Especially now, Harvard would not let a good major donor candidate go to waste.

That’s the only way it matters - the prominence or wealth of the grandparent. But not sure if the alumni tag matters even then. Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg’s grandkids are going to be on Harvard Z list regardless.

Interesting that there is no option to list grad school legacies. Is this true for other schools?

It’s common for undergrad to be considered for legacy status but not grad school.

Georgetown is about the only place I know that counts grad school as legacy.

Ivies and top schools only consider undergrad as legacy

My grandfather went to Georgetown for a grad program (dentistry) that hasn't existed in decades. I wonder if his great-grandchild will get any boost from this. The admissions officers would probably think we were making it up since it hasn't been around since before they were born.

Neither completed their degree. Though I believe Gates received an honorary degree which based on the definition that Harvard provides qualifies him to be called an alum.

As we learned from Jared Kushner, those with no affiliation to the university can still receive special consideration if they make big enough donations and kiss enough backsides.

Yes, neither of them graduated but many people on DCUM are armchair experts in admissions, considering that Harvard doesn't care about dropouts, those are not legacies by any stretch of the imagination.
