Job market and college costs

Not true. Michigan out of state is over 80k per year.. most SLAC’s arts colleges cost that much too. Out of state public’s will easily cost around 200k.

I don’t think so. I think college years and college in general is glorified and hyped up. Not saying kids shouldn’t attend college just saying its not all that to justify spending 320k for your kids to party, experiment with drugs or make friends.. I think more and more college especially top 20 is just a prestige signal.

Amazon laying off employees, UPS, Target, Salesforce.. all corporate jobs.

Smart to apply to colleges with best ROI.

This provides the best information in terms of ROI.

lol No it doesn't.

Yes it does. It provides numbers by schools and majors with sources from loan services and IRS.
It's ran by the education department.

This! Don't go into massive debt for college, no matter the degree.
Most can attend a state U or private that gives merit for $30K/year. Kid pays $10-15K (summer job and work PT during school and work on breaks), kid takes the $5-6K fed student loans. That leaves parents with $10-15K to figure out. So $40-60K total. If you have been saving anything for college, many families can cash flow/use college savings for $10-15K per year.

Imo, hard to justify private university tuition except in special cases.

It’s good to ask questions; we have this student debt mess in part because not enough questions were asked.

What does this mean?
What questions?

Prestige/Rankings/Brand are for people who need fancy packaging and cosmetic upgrades to seem valuable. The competent don’t need the fluff.

And let's also a question the destruction of the job market. It's gone into a nose dive with this new administration.

Not everything is about politics, my friend. Most people are just trying to get by. When it comes to the job market, everyone knows it’s the rich who are consuming the world’s resources — and yes, elite schools and big corporations are part of that group. Everything is about profit...

All these rankings have some value. You just have to sort it out yourself without saying stuff like "laughable" to a reputable establishment like Princeton Review.

I don't know that much about politics, but I have kids in college getting ready to graduate into this absolute crap job market. I sure wish they were graduating into the job market from the last administration. I can tell you that.

If companies want to layoff anyone they can layoff anyone anytime they want to even if your kids landed a job already... what's the difference? Governments don't own the private sectors.

Suit yourself. I want the old economy back for my kids.

Forgot to mention — every college loves to say that higher education isn’t meant for job training. But the moment you question its value, they start virtue signaling about how it’s “not a trade school.”
