| This thread is controversial? What do you mean? |
Indeed, it’s so annoying. |
Not sarcasm, that’s exactly what it is. Competition for status. It’s what primates do. |
+1 Plus, MAGAs have infested DCUM, including this forum. |
| Simple, because the whole US college admissions system is controversial. |
| Because the posters are desperate. |
I grew up in FCPS during the 80s and had teachers that spent more time in segregation than not. I haven't felt that bad till now. The MAGA hate seems to manifest wherever it can. Talk about Ivies the comment is on Asians. Talk about cheating the comment is on Indians. Talk about Trump on Universities and the talk is on protecting Jews (but more anti-Muslim then pro-Jew). Then play the victim that no college is safe for them - if I was talking smack about all other races than my own sure there is no college for me. Someone just needs to auto-filter then we go back to which is better: UVA vs VA Tech vs W&M and dissect it to the grass seed each school uses. |
Can you be more specific? In what ways? |
lol. This forum is a toxic cesspool of the worst instincts of parenting |
Indeedy! |
| Plus different lived experiences and views on what % kids should do in applying and what % parents and consultants should do. Ethical issue for some. |
What do astute posters here say on who should do what %? |
Some parents think anything they can do or afford is tight and good. Some think it should be the kid's work maybe with parental prodding but not parent/hired drafting, research, etc for statements and essays. Some just are awed and disgusted by the elites. |
| Because Russia wants to break forums. Making them unpleasant smothers them in a subtle way. |
|
Literal every board on here is controversial. Why? Because different people have different ideas and opinions and perspectives. And on an anonymous board, a few become mean about their stance. Why do people become mean? Well, that’s an age old question.
Most threads have a mixture of helpful responses, unhelpful responses, and just plain mean ones. Proceed at your own risk. |
