You realize elementary school students K-2nd getting a parent pad for the subway in NYC. After that they subway on their own

Like cut the umbilical cord. My preteens take buses and metros everywhere with friends.

How can you be living here and not be sure why that matters? I'm sincerely wondering, not trying to shame. My white teens are very aware that their friends could be treated differently based on their skin tone and tensions right now are high in a different way than before.


And my colored teen knows this is just what he has to deal with and accept, so ultimately it doesn’t matter.
